xi 122 pages, full page and text illus by G.H.G.Moorhouse, front and rear end papers showing drawing of a magazine rifle, a double barrel rifle and a 12 bore shotgun with components identified, pictorial printed card covers with title and tigers head to upper covers. A vg copy of a Corbett rarity. One copy located in the USA on World Cat, a note on contents begins "These stories are taken from Jim Corbetts well known book Man Eaters Of Kumaon. they have been abridged and slightly simplified for children" Reading the preface which in most cases follow that of the original there are some differences, the stories covered are "The Champawat man Eater, the Chowgarth Tiger And The Mohan Man Eaters". At the end of the book are 7 pages of questions and authors notes. These do not appear in the original book, whether the book was abridged by Corbett I cannot find other than "Authors notes" I also cannot find the illustration being used in other Corbett titles. I handled this copy a few years ago, and have recently re-purchased it from the collection of Arnold "Jake" Johnson who I originally sold it to. Johnson held one of the most comprehensive collections on Indian big game.

xv 388, x 381 pages, two volumes with frontis and engraved 1/2 title to each volume, 13 engraved plates + map. Bound in later ? dark green morroco with all edge's gilt. Cummings was a Scotsman and astounded the Dutch by wearing a kilt whilst hunting. The narrative is a valuable account of the state of the country at this period. Cumming appears to have hunted every species of South African fauna. After 5 years he returned to England, taking the Cape Wagon which had accompanied him throughout his journey and a large collection of trophies, the whole weighing about 30 tons. One of the classics of African Big Game Hunting and Exploration. Sabin Vol I 398, Czech 72
