xv 388, x 381 pages, two volumes with frontis and engraved 1/2 title to each volume, 13 engraved plates + map. Bound in later ? dark green morroco with all edge's gilt. Cummings was a Scotsman and astounded the Dutch by wearing a kilt whilst hunting. The narrative is a valuable account of the state of the country at this period. Cumming appears to have hunted every species of South African fauna. After 5 years he returned to England, taking the Cape Wagon which had accompanied him throughout his journey and a large collection of trophies, the whole weighing about 30 tons.
