Illustrated with 40 full page plates and, numerous illustrations in the text reproduced from the drawings by the author, the title page printed in red and black, some light spotting to prelims. Armorial bookplate of Francis Alvey Rhodes Darwin to the front paste down. Recased in the publisher's dark green cloth, with gilt title and large vignette of a stag and dog in mountain scene to the upper board the original spine relayed which had loss to the head tail, and lightly faded, a vg copy of the most important and beautifully produced book on Scottish stalking. Crealock describes the natural history. the abuse of deerhounds, red deer, the horns, stalking, the stalking grounds etc. And relates stories of twenty-two years of deer stalking on the deer forests of Scotland. A book often found in poor condition due to its size and weight with the plates often foxed.
