4to., unpaginated 200+ pages, 228 minutes recorded, some just a paragraph others several pages with a 4 page index and 6 page manuscript additions. A variety of weapons are designed and covered including Lewis machine Guns, ammunition, sights mountings, rifles, bayonets, Vickers guns etc., (A digital photograph of the index can be sent on request). The whole is bound in the original cloth binding, paper title label to upper cover, head and tail of spine worn and rubbing to corners. The name Colonel G.H.SD. Brown written on top margin of many of the reports and occasional notes and numbers written to margins. Colonel Browne was chairman of many of the meetings. Leslie faint ink note in below noting this Vol was exchanged ---. I can find no collation or much information on the book, the National Army Museum notes a copy Volume 1 1860, the British library holds 2 monthly parts for February and October 1858 indicating a monthly publication. In the preface its noted that despatches will be printed from Artillery Officers serving in India which appear throughout there are also numerous other references on India and the mutiny, embarkation listing troops regiments vessels etc. The articles published alongside the despatches cover experiments carried out at the Royal Arsenal including guns also foreign affairs etc The pagination lacks all before i possibly printed covers? then runs through to page 409 where the text stops abruptly followed by a plate. Armorial bookplate of William Curtis to the front paste down, military historian. A rare insight into the mutiny and the development of artillery.
