Bound in the publishers half red morocco, red cloth sides, gilt, top edges gilt, the binding clean and tight in vg condition First published in 1821, this facsimile published in London in 1903, and in New York in 1904 The London edition was bound in a red cloth the American edition in a much superior half leather.

Publishers' pictorial brown cloth, the spine with a 3-inch 6 cm split to upper edge and to inner hinge, the spine faded, a good + copy. Hon Charles Lascelles wrote the falconry section. Henry Williamson a prolific nature writer wrote The Peregrine Saga in1923 a title much reprinted. Other than Williamsons signature there are a couple of pages with margin line in the blue ink, no other reference to or by him, one page has the lower outer corner removed just touching the text. Unusual that the pages of the falconry section have been opened but not the coursing.

Recently recased retaining the original end papers in the publishers green pebbled cloth with gilt vignette to upper cover of a falconer carrying 4 falcons on a cadge, gilt title to the spine within decorative borders. The cloth clean and the gilt bright, overall, a vg copy of what Harting describes as "The best modern book in English on the art and practice of falconry".
