Anyway, boats were not allowed at the time, but that rule seemed to have passed us by. The short story is, we got caught and got banned".

A wife's detailed account of fishing excursions beginning April 30th in Derbyshire fishing at Ashford + Twyford Bridge, Makins Bridge etc, the rivers Maun Medon etc approx 28 pages. September fishing at Ullaapoll Sutherland, Lazonby, starting again in May 1934 back in Derbyshire at the same spots, August fishing Breconshire etc. the diary details weather and river conditions, flies, the fish etc. includes a loose school report from Cavendish School, Matlock for 1907 for Arthur Guy Wall + a loose photo presumably of Wall in uniform. A well put together diary of fishing in England before the war.

First published in 1696 this copy being the 11th edition neither ESTC or Westwood give a firm date for this edition. A rare work in any edition not listed in the Simpson angling library Westwood notes "This minute work by an anonymous writer forms one of the marked features of most angling book collections partly from its merits as a manual, but far more from its rarity only a few copies of the earlier issues having escaped the wear and tear of time" Westwood 181-184 ESTC- R32045 24 mo 11.5 cm x 5cm (iv)- 164 pages wood engraved frontis 8 wood crude wood cuts of fish within text. Loss to top corner of frontis affecting image some loss to lower blank margin slight chipping to lower bottom edge and corner of title page .. Some edge rubbing to corners of text not touching text. Ownership name "John Cotrell" to title page and verso of frontis dated 1773.Tightly bound and recased with new end papers, original boards and part of spine retained.
