The narrative is for the older child if not adult going into some detail "Thought my hunting days were over and expected to be reduced to mincemeat the next moment, when all of a sudden the infuriated animal pulled up with a jerk and I heard a report of Raschilds rifle". They took 80 porters with therm on their march into the Eldama Ravine, to mount Sirgoit and Elgeyo Forest. An unusual and vg+ item.

Each volume has a personal inscription signed and dated by Burrard to F.W.Jones for his help. The printed dedication in Vol I is to F.W.Jones, in the preface of each volume Burrard thanks Jones for his help with the manuscript for the books. Vol II On The Cartridge Jones contributed Appendix V an analysis of the internal ballistics of a shotgun. On leaving college Jones joined Colonel Schutze's factory and helped in the development of smokeless shotgun powder later becoming manger of the factory. Jones was an expert on ballistics and small arms. Each volume also has on the FEP, 1/2 title blank and title blank the small ownership stamp of H.J.Woodend, Herbie Woodend MBE was the custodian of the Ministry of Defence Pattern Room Museum and firearms expert. The 1st edition of Burrard's important work on English shotgun and cartridges with an excellent association. Riling 2096

Small 8vo 103 pages frontis portrait of Cara Buxton + 2 other plates Armorial book plate of R.C.Fiske to front paste down. Publishers grey blue cloth with gilt monogram C.G.B to upper board. A very good + copy of a rare title, not recorded by Czech, one copy located on Worldcat at the University of Texas Miss Buxton first visited the country on a shooting expedition in 1910 and a few years later came out as a settler. She originally took up land in Kericho but settled in Lumbwa district in 1920. The book is made up of a report to The Eastern Daily Press in 1912 on her first expedition. Followed by copies of letters Cara sent from 1912 to 1920 to Maggie and occasionally Mabel and an Aunt all dated and identifying the place from where they were sent. Her letters mention her life in Africa the war and some hunting. The letters resume in 1926 and includes a trip to Palestine much of her time seem to be taken up now with her Church and care for the local people there is still some mention of hunting. The book ends with Caras obituary she died in 1936 at the age of 61. I can only assume the letters were put together by a family member for distribution to family members.

Trekking across the Kitter mountains to hunt Ibex then to the Sinai Peninsula again to hunt Ibex.
