Each volume has a personal inscription signed and dated by Burrard to F.W.Jones for his help. The printed dedication in Vol I is to F.W.Jones, in the preface of each volume Burrard thanks Jones for his help with the manuscript for the books. Vol II On The Cartridge Jones contributed Appendix V an analysis of the internal ballistics of a shotgun. On leaving college Jones joined Colonel Schutze's factory and helped in the development of smokeless shotgun powder later becoming manger of the factory. Jones was an expert on ballistics and small arms. Each volume also has on the FEP, 1/2 title blank and title blank the small ownership stamp of H.J.Woodend, Herbie Woodend MBE was the custodian of the Ministry of Defence Pattern Room Museum and firearms expert.
