An important and comprehensive book on the subject. There were 3000 copies of the un-numbered trade edition in pictorial cloth. In addition to this there were 300 leather-bound copies, numbered and signed by the author. There was a further edition of 30 copies, numbered I - XXX, with a signed lithograph laid in. These three issues bring the total number of copies to 3,330 which is often quoted. This copy is from the "Edition Francaise reserve aux bibliophiles tiree a 50 exemplaires numerotes de 01 a 50", "French edition reserved for bibliophiles, numbered from 01 to 50.". Despite the appelation "Edition Francaise," this is an issue of the English language edition. The French language edition was entitled, "Les Ephemeres: Les Mouches Artificielles et Leur Montage." This too, was released in more than one issue.

All cards filled in in a neat hand Lord Worsley appears at the top of the named guns, (Lord Worsley was MP for Great Grimsby 1857 ? 1862). 6 to 8 guns shot over the days and named the total bag for the 6 days, claims 1301, killed 1334. A rare example of early game cards.
