Wellington New Zealand.
170 pagesa, illustrated throughout with photographs with map end papers, in DJ. Some old marking to edges of the DJ from a DJ protection cover which has also left some marks to the blank margin of the map end papers. Otherwise, a very good copy of a difficult title to find. The Otago herd of red deer is the only herd in New Zealand that is descended from wild stock. Barnwell's accurate picture of the herd's Highland ancestry, going right back to before the Jacobite Risings of 1715 and 1745. He then traces the moves leading up to the importation to New Zealand of the wild progenitors of the Otago herd, famous for its trophy heads with hunters.
