Bound in an attractive later circa 1850s half dark brown with calf gilt tooling to spine using insect, boat and fish gilt vignette. Un dated the frontis dated 1784 as all three editions, the advert leaf notes Cooks voyages in 1780, University of Cambridge Libraries gives a date of 1790, The frontis portrait is that of John Kirby, "the celebrated fisherman," who was keeper of Newgate. Details the rules to be observed by young anglers, the choice and preparation of rods and lines, float fishing live and dead baiting, fly fishing, the preparation of flies, an account of sea fish, the laws and customs of angling.
