The book in 2 parts, part 1 Coarse Fish part 2 Sea Fishes, detailing the natural history, methods of catching the fish, baits etc. The first edition of a much-reprinted title. Brookes a one-time rector of Ashney, Northamptonshire. He acknowledges " In the anglingpart, I had the assistance of Mr Chetwynd who is allowed by all to have great skills" and dangerously giving his thanks to Chetham, passages of whose "Vade Mecum" are coped textually.
