Tipped onto verso of the front end paper a handwritten letter from Francis Francis dated August 16th 1884. The letter goes into detail of not being able to give books personally due to circumstance and now have been sent, signed by Francis Francis, to the opposite front blank signed and dated August 1884 presentation inscription in ink from Francis Francis Publishers ? leather binding, a reprint of the 2590 edition with a preface and glossary by Thomas Satchell, limited to 200 copies. Apparently a fire destroyed many of the copies. Elkin Matthews in an advert in Dodds Fishing Rhymes 1913 noted a fire destroyed many copes WS 137, Hechsher 1344 DENNYS J. The Secrets of Angling W. Loose at the back a contemporary print on hand made paper of the angle from the Book Of St Albans All volums in identical Roxburgh style bindings, top edges gilt in very good condition, now housed in purpose made slipcase.
