x(ii) ? 168 pages, large 4to 43 full-page steel engravings, titlepage vignette, 10 plates of Landseer's early work and many other illustrations in the text. Bound in a full contemporary dark green morroco all edges gilt. Spine in six compartments' ornately decorated with central device within corner pieces and doble ruled frames. The boards with triple ruled border and corner pieces, gilt monogram to centre of the upper board "MC". The contents clean with light spotting to the blank end papers, the binding shows some light rubbing to corners a very good + copy of a title rarely found in this condition. Although not a stalking book Landseer was particularly associated with Scotland, and the Highlands particular, which provided the subjects (both human and animal) for many of his important paintings including many of a stalking or deer theme including The Monarch of the Glen.
