xviii 224 pages, large folio, TEG, 185 text and full page illus mostly by the author, 8 by Sidney Steel, 2 by E.Roe, 10 electro engraved and coloured frontis by the author and Sidney Steel, and a series of unpublished sketches by Sir Edwin Landseer, bookplate to front paste down with 2 old bookseller catalogue slips to lower edges, also early engraving of a dead red deer pasted to lower blank margin dedication page, some spotting to the margins of the elctro plates o/w contents clean and free of foxing. Original publishers pictorial cloth binding with deer head design to upper board and spine in black. The cloth evenly darkened on spine and less so along top edge of the front cover, the cloth usually found unevenly darkened, one of the classic Victorian stalking titles.
